Prior to her move to Cape Town,
Heidi qualified and worked as a
European Patent Attorney and UK
Chartered Patent Agent and was a
Partner in a London law firm. She
has over 12 years' experience in the
patent profession with her expertise
focusing in the biotechnology area.
She has extensive experience in
drafting and prosecuting patent
applications in Europe and other
territories and providing
infringement and validity advice.
Heidi has also been involved in
numerous opposition and appeal
proceedings before the European
Patent Office. She has spoken at
various international conferences on
patents and has taught on a foreign
patent law revision course in the
UK.
Her clients have included start-ups
and small companies, universities,
public research bodies and large
multi-national companies. She has
advised companies on planning their
intellectual property strategies and
has managed international patent
portfolios on behalf of a number of
clients.
She has received prizes for the
highest combined aggregate score for
the foundation level UK Patent Law
and Foreign Patent Law examinations,
for the highest mark in the
foundation level Foreign Trade Mark
Law examination, and at university
received the R.A. Knox Memorial
Prize for the best first-class
performance in a Final Honours
School.
