Nicholas Watermeyer is a patent attorney with a PhD in organic chemistry and molecular biology. He has expertise in protecting complex chemistry and biotech inventions, both locally and abroad.
Before joining Von Seidels, Nicholas completed a postdoctoral fellowship in carbohydrate synthesis in Ireland, during which he prepared synthetic derivatives of the anticoagulant drug, heparin. He then traded in his lab coat for a desk and a career in patent law.
His practice includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications, patent litigation, performing infringement and validity analyses, preparing and filing registered designs, and conducting patent searches.
Nicholas’s technical expertise is in life science and chemistry inventions, particularly in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, specialty chemicals, polymers, diagnostics, and medical devices.
