The Registrar General has issued a public notice on 14 June 2021 concerning the renewal of expired trade mark registrations in Uganda.
In terms of this notice, a trade mark owner of an expired registration has until 14 July 2021 to have it renewed by paying the prescribed renewal fee together with the late renewal fee. On expiry of the 30-day period, any expired registration not renewed, will be struck off the register.
The Ugandan Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has published a list of over 4000 expired marks affected by the notice. The list of marks can be viewed HERE.
We are reviewing the list of expired registrations to ensure that none of our clients’ marks have been included, but please contact us if you need any assistance in this regard.
