About Emma Gelderblom

Emma is a candidate attorney in the patent department. Her current focus areas include patentability investigations, freedom-to-operate searches, and assisting with the preparation and filing of local patent applications. She has an interest in intellectual property that delivers tangible public benefit by improving access to scientific and technological advancements, particularly those addressing challenges in renewable energy, healthcare, and education.

Emma completed a master’s degree in physics at the University of Pretoria, specifically in biophysics, where students investigate the energy and structural dynamics of light-harvesting protein complexes of photosynthetic organisms. Currently, she is studying towards a degree in law at the University of South Africa.
