A candidate patent attorney with a background in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, and computer science.
Kyle is a candidate patent attorney in the patent department. He is focused on patentability investigations, freedom-to-operate searches as well as the preparation, filing and prosecution of local and foreign patent applications.
Kyle completed a Bachelor of Engineering degree at the University of Stellenbosch, followed by a Master of Engineering (cum laude), in Mechanical Engineering. During his masters, he specialised in biomedical engineering while working at the Cardiothoracic Surgery department, developing artificial heart valves. He went on to complete a Doctor of Science in Computer Science (magna cum laude) at the University of Stuttgart in Germany, in the Parallel and Distributed Systems department, where he focused on high performance computing, computational mechanics and deep learning. He is currently studying towards a law degree through the University of South Africa.
He has a particular interest in mechanical, biomedical, electronic, computer and software inventions, as well as the use of artificial intelligence in patents.
